The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is reviewing the efficacy of Cialis and Viagra tablets for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
The ACCC has launched a review process to determine if these tablets are effective, and the outcomes from the review will be presented at the annual Scientific Session.
The ACCC is also reviewing the use of Viagra tablets for the treatment of ED and the findings from the review.
“This review will include all evidence to support the safety, effectiveness, and safety-related quality of the evidence and the evidence base for the safety profile of sildenafil, sildenafil citrate and tadalafil,” commented the ACCC. “We are reviewing the safety profile of sildenafil and sildenafil citrate in order to ensure that the evidence is robust.”
Sildenafil (Viagra) tablets contain the active ingredient sildenafil citrate and the active ingredient tadalafil.
Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra, the same ingredient that is in both Cialis and Viagra tablets.
The results from this review will also include a review of the safety of sildenafil tablets. This will include a review of the safety profile of sildenafil tablets.
The ACCC is also reviewing the safety of both sildenafil and tadalafil tablets.
“It is important to note that sildenafil is a prescription medication for erectile dysfunction and it is not suitable for everyone, including those who are over 65. Sildenafil is generally well tolerated and may be used in people who have not previously had an erection,” added the ACCC.
“In our review, we will be reviewing the safety of both sildenafil and tadalafil tablets. We will also be reviewing the safety of sildenafil and tadalafil tablets in the context of the Australian Medical Research Council (AMRC) recommendations and the safety profile of sildenafil and tadalafil tablets.”
Tadalafil tablets are also available as a generic version of the brand Cialis.
“Tadalafil tablets are the most effective ED treatment and the best evidence suggests they are generally well-tolerated and safe,” added the ACCC. “Tadalafil tablets can be taken with or without food, and in some patients it may be advised to avoid alcohol. It is important that patients are aware of the potential benefits of taking tadalafil tablets.”
“This review will provide the evidence to support the safety of tadalafil tablets and the evidence base for the safety profile of tadalafil and sildenafil tablets for the treatment of ED,” commented the ACCC.
The ACCC is also reviewing the effectiveness of the sildenafil tablets, and the findings from the review will be presented at the annual Scientific Session.
The ACCC is reviewing the safety profile of sildenafil tablets.Cialis is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis, resulting in stronger and longer-lasting erections. It belongs to the class of medications known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
Cialis should be taken only when prescribed by a doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Do not take any more than the recommended dose and do not take it if the doctor has not prescribed it.
The recommended dosage for Cialis is one tablet taken once or twice daily, depending on the severity of your condition. Do not take more than the prescribed dose or take it more often than once per day.
Do not drink alcohol while taking Cialis. Alcohol can increase the effects of Cialis and increase the risk of side effects like dizziness, fainting, etc. If you are unable to tolerate alcohol, talk to your doctor before taking it.
Before taking Cialis, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies. This medication should not be used in children under 18 years of age. Before using Cialis, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Cialis (Tadalafil)
Do not take any more than the recommended dose and do not take more than the recommended dose.
Avoid taking Cialis if you are:
1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:
Tadalafil belongs to the group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) inhibitors, primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Erectile dysfunction is the inability to keep a hard and erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Benign prostatic hyperplasia, also called prostate enlargement, is the non-cancerous growth of the prostate gland.
Tadalafil contains ‘Tadalafil’, which works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis; this allows the blood to flow into the penis when the person is sexually excited. Thereby, it helps to treat erectile dysfunction. Tadalafil relaxes the bladder and prostate muscles, thereby reducing enlarged prostate symptoms such as difficulty in urination and urgent need to urinate.
You are advised to take Tadalafil for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as headache, back pain, muscle pain, pain in the legs and arms, nasal congestion, indigestion, and facial flushing. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Do not take Tadalafil if you are taking nitrates (used to treat angina), riociguat (used to treat pulmonary hypertension) or alpha-blockers; if you have heart problems or stroke, low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Tadalafil is not intended for use in women. Tadalafil may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol as it might cause increased dizziness. Tadalafil should not be given to children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and the medicines you are taking to avoid unpleasant side effects.
If you have any other health condition, you are advised to keep a health questionnaire in the envelope that comes with your medicine. Eligibility criteria for the health questionnaire include: family history of Erectile Dysfunction or enlarged prostate; severe kidney or liver disease; heart disease or heart problems; certain depression or mental health conditions; a seizure disorder; a recent history of angina or angina pectoris; or history of BPH. The health questionnaire is usually read before you take Tadalafil and if it is appropriate, the doctor prescribes a dose. The dose will be determined by the doctor based on your medical condition and response to treatment. In case the doctor determines that the correct dose is not safe for you, the recommended dose of Tadalafil is as follows: 5 mg taken orally as needed, every 8 hours for 5 days. 10 mg taken orally every 8 hours for 5 days. The recommended dose of Tadalafil is 10 mg taken orally every 8 hours for 5 days. In case the doctor decides to increase the dose, the recommended dose is 5 mg taken orally every 8 hours for 5 days.
If you are taking medicines called nitrates for angina or alpha-blockers for prostate problems such as flurodoneide (as add-on therapy for prostate enlargement), urokinase inhibitors or digoxin for heart problems, you may experience sudden drops in blood pressure. Do not take Tadalafil if you are taking any of these medicines if you have not taken any of the medicines in the preceding 6 months.
Tadalafil should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of its components. Tadalafil should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the following: sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), vardenafil (Levitra), fenofibrate (Diaborela), gemfibrozil (Qmaiglo), bosentan (Tracleer), losartan (Cozaar), terazosin (Kohseniya), lopinavir/ritonavir (in ritonavir), rifampin (Reyatad), or rifabutin (Femara).
Symptoms of dizziness include: drowsiness, nausea, lightheadedness, vomiting, and loss of consciousness. Symptoms of dizziness may include: tinnitus, blurred vision, headache, flushing, and dizziness. If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking Tadalafil and get emergency medical attention.
